  Ordinary Express
For an ordinary telegram minimum charge (upto 10 words) Rs.3.50 Rs.7.00

For deluxe telegrams  Ordinary/Express charges plus 50 paise 
For Multiple address telegrams: 
    • Multiple address telegrams means a telegram addressed to several persons in the same locality served by one and the same telegraph office 
    • Or to the same person at several address in such locality 
    • No. of addresses is limited to five per telegram
 
For Copying Ordinary/Express telegrams   Rs.5/- will be charged for the first 30 words  

Rs.3/- will be charged for each additional 30 words

Fax

Facsimile service is a service which enables transmission of documents, graphics, hand-written materials, signatures etc using any script. An extra replica of the original document is received at the receiving end.

Telexograms

Telexogram is a telegram booked by a telex subscriber for onward transmission without prepayment to the Telegraph Office. The charges for these telexograms will be realised through telex bills. A fee of Rs.2.00 will be levied in addition to usual telegram charges.
Phonograms Inland telegrams other than press telegrams may be telephoned by the telephone subscribers for onward transmission without prepayment to the Telegraph offices. The charges for these phonograms will be realised through telephone bills. A fee of Rs.2.00 will be levied in addition to usual telegram charges.
Electronic Money Transfer Electronic Money Transfer is a service facilitating the public to send money to distant stations through the computerised telegraph network speedily and safely.

Telegraphic address

Telegraphic address is an abbreviated address registered by any person or firm to whom telegrams are frequently addressed by paying a nominal fee.

Tariff: Rs.200/- per calendar year.

If registered during the course of the year prorata of Rs.20/- per month will be charged upto 31st December of that year.

One single fee is charged if the same address is registered both in Roman and Devanagari.
Credit account and Deposit Account The facility for booking telegrams without prepayment is made available by having a deposit a/c in case of private firms/individuals and credit a/c in case of government establishments.

The private firms/individuals have to make deposit equivalent to the estimated cost of three months telegrams plus fees for the upkeep of accounts.

As for government establishment is concerned a letter or request to the Officer incharge of Telegraph Office is suffice.

Upkeep charges is @Rs.5/- for each batch of 20 telegrams and Rs.10 for 21 to 40 telegrams.
Concessions and facilities available For Press Telegrams :

The press telegram is a telegram the text of which is made up of information and news intended for publication in newspaper, other periodical publications and broadcast by the All India Radio.

  Concession in the address portion of telegram :

In order to give full address for prompt delivery, Inland telegrams charged only for the first six words and the words in excess of six but not exceeding ten are transmitted free.

Greetings code number is charged for one word only.

Advance greetings telegrams can be booked when there are minimum 3 clear days in advance and maximum 30 days. Within Tamilnadu state minimum one day in advance also greetings telegrams can be booked.

 Late fee facility :

At the time of presentation of the telegram when the office of transit or destination is closed a late fee is collected from the sender of the telegram to have prompt delivery. Normally a fee of Rs.3/- is collected when an office is closed as late fee.

 Paid Service Advice :

It is an advice made at the office of booking or destination during the period of preservation of message drafts in all cases of demands for corrections, etc. The destination are not charged for.

 Certified copy of telegram :

The sender or addressee of an Inland telegram or authorised representative of either of them may, on application made to the telegraph offices concerned within the specified dates can obtain the copies of the telegram originally booked or the copy of the telegram delivered.
